Yup... and hes saying this is NOT an auction house. An auction house would imply bidding and constantly changing prices.
This is for a market place where the item prices are fixed by the seller and dont budge unless relisted manually by the seller... or removed to make space for direct haggling between one seller and one buyer.

I don't think anyone's disagreeing with this post you're telling us all to re-read. This is NOT an Auction House, so we're all in total agreement with you that they won't implement one.
The Xunlai Marketplace on the other hand... I will keep my hopes high until the day that Gaile comes in here and quashes the rumors. If it wasn't happening it would have just been good PR/CR to tell us straight out. IF it's not happening and she's staying silent she is making the biggest marketing blunders known to anyone who knows squat about marketing.

That's the best point for it.
The silence.
Being something so 'big', they would have asked yes or no for sure if they could.

Maybe they are just tired of responding to constant speculation/rumors on this forum and then getting their asses ripped out by people for any answer they give.

You and me both man. Its a double.
(They also added RED items in the update in my dream. They were like GREENS but with extra damage and interesting mods, PvE only.)
One of em dropped for me in the dream and I sold it on the XMP for 500 gold.
500 gold? Why?
Oh and in the dream, the XMP was in the NPC market area in LA.
...yeah im obsessed.

Hm... if the voices in my head are right... if we don't get in GW1 three months after the global district frontier removal is made, then we don't get it until GW2.

That's my point, what GW needs and always needed in the past is an auction house, and since anet is not willing to give us one there is no real point in introducing a so called Xunlai marketplace at this time.

Nah, GW has an 'skill over grind' (hey, don't laugh!! > ) philosophy so 'direct sell' fits much better than auctions. Auctions tend to increase prices and encourage massive farming of a single place by everyone, while direct sells make the opposite, prices spike much less, and it doesn't really mater where do you farm, because you will get more or less the same.

Gaile is not a marketing person, she is a public relations person. And yes, there is a difference.
A public relations officer is the liaison between the company (and in Anets case the devs) and the community as a whole. Typically they don't get to create a marketing strategy but are the people who implement it (the marketing department being the one who makes the plan). I know for a LONG time Anet didn't have a marketing department (not sure about now though, a while back they had been talking about getting one and had issued a job posting for one).
Of course, we don't know exactly how much input she has on the actual strategy (she may have lots), but then she may not be able to say anything about it no matter how much she wants too or thinks keeping silent is a good idea. Remember, they intentionally kept her in the dark about the mini-polar bear and a few other things.

I am going to have to disagree with this. Direct sales leave the door wide open for power traders to manipulate the market, price spikes, and price scams.

Not so much... the most they could do is keep prices down. If a power trader puts 10 colossal scimitars, for example, out there for 3000K and Joe Regular puts one out there for 50K, J.R. is going to make his sale much more easily that P.T.
The worst that could happen is that J.R. sees P.T.'s prices and over-prices himself, but if he doesn't sell soon enough he'll lower his price towards reality.
The worst that can happen is prices come down. This benefits everyone.

I think the time is right for an update like Sorrow's Furnance. Keeps us interested so we are around for when GW2 goes live. As it is right now I know of several people I run with that have quite to go play hellgate.
If this update included something like an Xunlai Market I am all for it. Just make sure it is game world wide, meaning you post something in Factions, people in Lion Arch and Kamadan can see it too. Be nice to see some of the WTS and WTB go away.

XDDD You serious?
Auctions:
- Those with more cash have preference in trades.
- Those with more cash can buy things tey do not need for increased prices to sell them for even more, faking high prices.
- Prices tend o spike, since people tend to pay more and more for the same things.
Direct:
- Those faster have preference in trades.
- Even if those with more cash buy a lot of things to sell them later for more cash, other people may still put prices under that, so they don't get sould hteir items first, and those with lower prices get their stuff sold first.
- Prices tend to decrease, since people tend to put lower and lower prices to get their items sold instead of others.
Now tell me, which items are usually Auctioned or have negotiable prices in real life (outside eBay and auction sites)?
- Expensive Art and confiscated properties. Even when you buy a car or a house you may get better prices and bargains.
Which items are usually sold by direct non-negotiable prices?
- Almost any supermaket product.
Where do usually people go to buy bread? To auction sites? Nope.
Auctions are a bad thing fof the economy of a game with no 'king of the hill' in items.

Car Auctions
Real Estate foreclosure auctions
Police Confiscated items
To name a few, all sell for a much lower price than their market value. Not to mention how auction house prices would pretty much eliminate the scams of selling fairly common items as "very rare".

Those auctions also have a very limited public. An auction house in GW would be seen by everyone, so you'd be bidding against every other player. Only the richest will win as prices climb through the stratosphere.
However, a marketplace concept would have the opposite effect. People looking for a quicker sale will result in lower prices for all. First click wins.
